Garrett and I headed back to the mtns late Monday to climb another 12er on Tuesday. It was an interesting climb... we originally intended on claiming two peaks by traversing from one to the other. We found that this is much easier said than done and turned around at a very exposed steep downclimb section. Here are some pics of the trip.
Picture of our "motorhome" notice the nice open kitchen in the front and our plush bedroom in the back. It even has a nice leveling system in the front.
The tallest peak in the very back is a false peak in front of our main objective (Breitenbach)
This shows the "trail" up the mtn through the scree. Again the tallest peak in the background is the south "false peak"
Now we are getting close... This is us standing on the false peak from the previous pic with the main Breitenbach peak in the background.
Garrett's famous summit pose
Panorama from the peak.
Here is where it got interesting... on the way down from Breit at the saddle we tried to traverse the ridgelin behind Garrett. The jagged cliff about in the middle of the pic is where we decided it was too scary to proceed and turned around.
Here is another picture of the jagged ridge line that we decided to bail out on.
One last picture with the attempted ridge line traverse looking up from the bottom.
It was a long day... 9 hours a little over 9.2 miles and 5400ft vertical elevation gain.
Here are a couple google earth shots of our route.
Stay tuned we only have 4 more to go...
